Tourism is one of the world's largest and fastest growing industries and is very central to the Government of Kenya's economic development strategy.

Tetu district has no tourism development despite the potential within its borders.

The district is characterized by valleys, ridges and hills which, if well harnessed, can end up as tourist destinations.

The main physical feature is the Aberdare forest ridges to the west, with the famous Mt. Kenya visible from most corners of the district on a clear day.

Tetu/Huhoini, Muhoya/Kimathi, and Thegenge locations cover part of this forest. Steep valleys and ridges are common in these locations.

Tetu district's relief and drainage is well developed with several rivers and streams. The major rivers found here include Gura, Chania and Kagumo. The district is also endowed with plenty of natural springs and streams.

Proposals for developing sustainable tourism in the district, to create jobs and increase disposable income in the community, as well as promote environmental, cultural and historical practices, are detailed in the distrct's strategic plan.
