Hon. Francis Nyammo's towering legacy

Hon. Francis T. Nyammo is serving his first term as the MP for Tetu Constituency, having been elected on a PNU ticket in the December 2007 general elections.

An economics graduate of the University of London and a career banker, Hon. Nyammo has towered above Kenya's landscape in the past four decades, leaving indelible footsteps in all the spheres he has stepped into. Whether in the public or private sectors or as an entrepreneur, Hon. Nyammo has led from the front, helping build larger than life institutions like Kenya Reinsurance Corporation (Kenya-Re), National Bank of Kenya (NBK), Africa Re, and the Afro-Asia Insurance and Re-insurance.

In his corporate life, he has been General Manager, NBK; Chairman and MD, Kenya-Re; President and founding director, Africa Insurance Organization; Chairman, Afro-Asia Insurance and Re-insurance Association; Vice Chairman, Kenyatta University College; Chairman and founding director, Kenya Finance Bank.

Hon. Nyammo is passionate about education. He is Chairman and principal shareholder of Longhorn Publishers as well as Chancellor and principal shareholder of the Inoreero University (formerly Kenya School of Professional Studies), two key institutions that play very crucial roles in the country's education growth.

He also has interests in the real estate and the insurance industry.

The MP has also played a leading role in improving and articulating societal issues and has served as the Chairman of the education sector in KEPSA, the national private sector body whose aim is to improve public service delivery.

A consummate leader in business and politics Hon. FT. Nyammo has an enviable commitment and devotion to serving the community and has, over the years, worked on various development projects to improve Tetu.

Some of these projects include: founding and continuing to support a number of rural schools; building facilities for schools and churches; establishment of bursaries to educate less fortunate children; mobilizing resources to provide tapped water for rural communities - he has been instrumental in the development of the Titie water project; as well as electricity initiatives and women & youth projects.
