Tetu constituency has three government-run health centres, namely, Unjiru, Wamagana and Gichira. There are 8 operational dispensaries, i.e. Ihururu, Njogu-ini, Zaina, Kirurumi, Ichagaciru, Wandumbi, Ndugamano & Kiariuwa |

whilst 2 more, i.e. Gathaithi & Hubuini are in the course of construction through CDF. Ihururu dispensary is currently being upgraded to a health centre under the Economic Stimulus Program, whilst Zaina dispensary is currently being expanded through community/private initiative and CDF is funding the construction of the maternity block. Two additional dispensaries are proposed at Thage-ini and Githakwa, again through CDF funding. In order to enable the community access better health facilities, most of the health centres and dispensaries have been rehabilitated and improved through CDF. There are two integrated VCT centers and four PMCTCT service centers. As can be expected, there are quite a number of private health clinics. Unfortunately, most of these public facilities suffer from a shortage of medical staff, equipment and other provisions. HIV/AIDS also remains a growing concern in most areas and thus there is a need to develop a strategic plan to deal with the pandemic. This will include how groups can be formed to receive funds from National Aids Control Council.
